Position Summary:
The Data Systems Support Analyst within the Data Engineering team will provide technical support to internal users, focusing on resolving issues related to data systems, databases, data pipelines, and other data engineering tools. This role ensures the smooth operation of data processes by assisting team members with troubleshooting, resolving software issues, and ensuring that data-related systems are functioning efficiently. The Data Systems Support Analyst will also work closely with data engineers to address technical challenges and enhance overall team productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Support for Data Tools:
* Provide first-line support for data engineering-related tools, including but not limited to databases, data pipeline frameworks, ETL tools, and data visualization platforms.
* Respond to requests for technical assistance via email, or internal ticketing system.
* Troubleshoot issues related to data access, data quality, and performance, working closely with data engineers as needed.
* Issue Diagnosis and Resolution:
* Identify and diagnose common technical problems related to databases, data storage solutions, and data processing tools.
* Offer solutions to common technical problems or escalate complex issues to the appropriate data engineering personnel.
* Track recurring issues and work with the engineering team to implement solutions or preventive measures.
* User Training and Documentation:
* Assist in creating user guides, FAQs, and documentation for internal users on how to access and use data systems.
* Provide ad-hoc training sessions or tutorials for internal staff on best practices for interacting with data engineering systems and tools.
* Collaboration with Data Engineers:
* Collaborate with data engineers to help prioritize and address issues impacting workflows or data quality.
* Assist data engineers with deployment issues, system integration challenges, and data pipeline troubleshooting.
* Provide feedback to data engineering teams about recurring issues or potential improvements based on user feedback.
* Monitoring and Reporting:
* Monitor the status of data systems and report potential disruptions or performance issues to the engineering team.
* Assist in maintaining accurate records of all support tickets, including troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and status updates.
* System Maintenance and Upgrades:
* Work with the team to ensure that software configurations and updates do not interfere with data workflows.
* Performance Optimization:
* Provide support for performance-related issues (e.g., slow data queries, lag in data processing) by analyzing logs and system resources.
* Help users optimize their data queries or interactions with systems to enhance performance and avoid bottlenecks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in IT support or help desk environments.
* Familiarity with common data engineering tools, such as Microsoft SQL, Azure data pipeline technologies and data processing frameworks.
* Proficiency with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Zendesk).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
* Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
* Ability to collaborate in a team environment and adapt to changing technologies.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with data engineering concepts, such as ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lakes.
* Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for automation and troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with monitoring tools native to Azure.
* Experience in Azure cloud computing platforms.
