Job Title: IT Data Governance Project Manager
Location: Santa Clara, CA / Austin, TX
Duration: 6 Months (with potential for extension)
Pay Rate: $72/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Data Governance Project Manager to lead and deliver data governance initiatives at Applied Materials. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in data governance frameworks, master data management, and project leadership. This role involves managing integrations with enterprise applications and tools, working across cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful delivery of both transformation and optimization projects.
Key Qualifications
Experience in Data Governance (Minimum 4 Years Required)
- Proven background in implementing data governance and standards frameworks
- Hands-on experience as a functional analyst in master data or data governance
- Integration experience with key platforms including:
- SAP ECC / MDG
- Hadoop
- Salesforce
- Workday
- ServiceNow
Data Governance Tools Experience (Preferred)
- Familiarity with tools such as:
- Alation
- Collibra
- Informatica
Project Management Expertise
- 3–4 years of experience managing IT/data governance projects, including large-scale implementations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Skilled in overseeing:
- Budgets and resource allocation (especially for large projects)
- Scope management, timelines, and risk mitigation
- Project documentation (BRDs, design specs, test plans, training materials, etc.)
- Full SDLC adherence and promotion of changes to production
- Ability to proactively manage and resolve project issues
- Strong organizational, follow-through, and multitasking skills
Preferred Certifications
- PMP, CMP, or Agile certification is strongly preferred
Additional Qualifications
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented: adept at root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate technical implications for non-technical stakeholders
- Effective communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
- Comfortable working within a matrixed organization
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and MS Project
