The Data Analyst - Internal Audit, will support the internal audit team by analyzing data to help assess internal controls, identify risks, and ensure compliance with policies. This role will involve using data analysis tools and techniques to assist with audits and provide insights to improve business processes.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis:
Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, patterns, and irregularities.
Prepare data reports, summaries, and visualizations to support internal audit findings.
Audit Support
Assist audit teams by providing data analysis for audits (e.g., transaction testing, control assessments).
Help identify areas of risk or concern based on data trends.
Reporting
Create clear data reports, charts, and graphs to present audit findings to management.
Document data analysis results and ensure they are understandable to stakeholders.
Collaboration
Work with internal auditors to understand audit requirements and provide relevant data insights.
Communicate findings effectively with audit teams and management.
Process Improvement
Recommend improvements to data collection, reporting, or audit procedures based on analysis.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CISA, or CFA) are a plus.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in auditing, financial analysis, or data analytics.
Knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and auditing principles is required.
Experience in risk assessment, fraud detection, or financial compliance is a plus.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in data analytics tools: Python (including ML/DL frameworks), SQL, Power BI (or Google Data Studio), and Microsoft Copilot for automation and productivity.
Financial & Accounting Software: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is a plus.
Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization).
Understanding of financial modeling and data validation techniques.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to interpret financial data and identify anomalies, inconsistencies, or trends that indicate risks.
Strong attention to detail and ability to connect financial and operational data for decision-making.
Communication & Collaboration
Good verbal and written communication skills to present financial and audit insights effectively.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams (Finance, Internal Audit, IT, etc.) to ensure data-driven decision-making.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to take ownership of projects.
