Project Opportunity

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of the project, FCC is looking for a Cost Controller to join our team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide support in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company's project cost/control systems.
  • Assist in monitoring of project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).
  • Assist in monitoring project performance and ensure that the project control system is properly implemented.
  • Generate/Maintain all required project status reports for internal management and the client, including the overall project Dashboard and project performance reports (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, KPI, etc.).
  • Assist in the generation, review, and analysis of cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost.
  • Provide support to the project team in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status.
  • Develop, or assist in the development of, quantity bases for the assumption and/or during forecasting budget.
  • Perform data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations.
  • Ensure all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout.
  • Create and implement measurement systems for given processes, analyze performance metric results, and identify improvements.
  • Responsible for monitoring/maintaining project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).

Education And Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related Cost Control experience on construction projects.
  • College and/or University degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes and an understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
  • Applied knowledge of Project Management and Cost Controls principles is an asset.
  • Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles is an asset.
  • Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset.

Job Requirements

  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce, read, and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports is an asset.
