Controls Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in the oil and gas industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain control systems to optimize industrial processes, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and traveling to client sites for system installation, troubleshooting, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, program, and implement PLC-based control systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric) for oil and gas processes.
* Develop and configure HMI systems to provide operator-friendly interfaces and process monitoring.
* Integrate various industrial protocols, such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus, for seamless communication between devices and systems.
* Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site and remotely to ensure proper functionality.
* Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and system architectures.
* Collaborate with project teams to define system requirements and deliver tailored control solutions.
* Assist with retrofitting and upgrading control systems from legacy platforms to modern technologies.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISA, NFPA, and API to maintain safe and efficient operations.
* Provide hands-on technical support and operator training for installed systems.
* Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices to recommend improvements to control systems.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
* Proficiency in programming PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
* Strong knowledge of HMI configuration and design for process control.
* Familiarity with field instrumentation, motor control centers (MCC), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
* Hands-on experience with system troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
* Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus.
* Experience with safety systems, including SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
