Controller – Commercial Real Estate

Location/Onsite: Atlanta, GA | In-Office

Our client, a growing real estate investment firm, is on the lookout for a seasoned Controller to bring leadership, structure, and strategy to their accounting operations in Atlanta. A Day in the Life of the Controller

You’ll serve as a senior leader in the finance team, partnering closely with the CFO and providing hands-on oversight of all accounting functions. This role is a rare opportunity to step into a blank slate and design the financial backbone of a high-performing, entrepreneurial company.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading all accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Mentoring and managing the accounting team, including an Accounting Manager
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financials across multiple ownership entities
• Guiding the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with asset management
• Coordinating with external CPA firms for audits and tax preparation
• Implementing and improving internal controls and accounting processes
• Supporting financial due diligence for acquisitions, dispositions, and developments
• Aligning financial strategy with business goals and growth initiatives

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 5+ years of experience as a Controller
• Strong understanding of accounting in commercial real estate
• 5+ years of real estate industry experience
• 2+ years of experience in commercial real estate
• Proficient with Yardi or MRI property management software
• CPA license is a plus, but not required
• Experience managing or mentoring an accounting team
• Comfortable in a high-growth, fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
