Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Construction Estimator to lead the pricing and budgeting efforts for our residential and commercial construction projects. The Estimator plays a critical role in the preconstruction process by evaluating project scope, analyzing plans and specifications, obtaining competitive trade partner proposals, and preparing accurate estimates to support both Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Detailed Pricing phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare preliminary (ROM) and detailed estimates based on schematic and construction-level drawings
  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis using digital tools and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and trade partners to clarify scope and ensure estimate completeness
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level bids from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Maintain and update unit cost databases and historical cost data
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and potential scope gaps or red flags
  • Support client presentations and participate in budget discussions when needed
  • Track and document estimate assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions
  • Provide support during project handoff and job startup with the operations team

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating for custom residential, commercial, or high-end renovation projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, and material costs
  • Proficient in construction estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore Estimating, Sage, Bluebeam)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
