KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Cultivate community relations to maximize the impact of and raise
awareness about DSS services.
2. Enhance the quality of education in DSS classrooms
3. Manage all HR, financial and administrative aspects of the field team in
order to maximize team impact.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Cultivate community relations to maximize the impact of and raise
awareness about DSS services and classes.
Survey and map the community to develop a community profile
Identify community needs and communicate them to initiate/modify
services of DSS
Create community-wide awareness related to vision, mission &
work/services of DSS
Orienting stakeholders (local police stations, government and private
hospitals) about Door Step School objectives and purpose
Networking with other resource agencies for specialized services
required at community level
Implement enrolment drives in the community
Organize and facilitate meetings with parents in the community to:
Build their confidence in DSS as well as schooling system, and
motivate them to enrol children in school
Obtain birth certificates and other documents to ensure submission
of accurate information to schooling authorities
Identify stakeholders in the community who are willing to support
initiatives undertaken by DSS
2. Enhance the quality of education in DSS classroom
Set up and manage classrooms
Identify and set up suitable classroom spaces within the community
Coordinate appropriate timings for classes
Enrol children, ensure consistent attendance through continuous
follow ups
Make suitable arrangements for a class when a teacher is absent.
Procure and disburse material
Work with teachers to prepare lists of required materials (Teaching
& Learning Material, administrative needs etc...)every month, follow
up with administration department in relation to procurement, and
ensure complete delivery of materials

Assist teachers in conducting inventory assessments and ensure
optimal utilization of materials
Prepare stock register, maintain records and check the balance
material
Make available necessary material to programme beneficiaries
Manage formal school enrolment process
Maintain list of students enrolled in formal schools and follow ups
during enrolment year
Seek support from school coordinators in Municipal School in
relation to enrolment in the school
Coordinate with school coordinators on follow-up of School
dropouts and sponsorship program beneficiaries
Collect student enrolment data and school drop-outs three times a
year - coordinate with school coordinator on students not attending
classes
Monitor and evaluate performance of programme
Monitor day to day classroom activities and provide feedback to
teacher on aspects to improve
Monitor performance of students through predefined indicators
thrice a year
Regular Monitoring of performance of teachers, educational
processes
Facilitate and supervise the performance tests conducted for the
beneficiaries of various programs
Supervise other supportive services (Example: Bal Samuha) as
assigned
Design and implement the detailed plan for the programme
Create annual plan and implement for curricular, extra-curricular
activities, visits, events and workshops conducted in the
community
Plan and conduct regular meetings with teachers, community
stakeholders, parents and alumni
Plan and make regular field visits to monitor program and progress
Document the status and progress of the programme
Collect and report on attendance data of all classes
Prepare monthly status and performance reports, six monthly and
annual analytical reports and updates
Gather data and submit monthly narratives on the activities and
progress made in the classrooms
Assess the current needs of the community and document them to
incorporate in further planning
Document all proceedings and minutes of meetings

3. Manage all HR, financial and administrative aspects of the field team in
order to maximize team impact.
Organise meetings of teachers and coordinators to create awareness
on child protection policy and strict adherence to the same
Conduct appraisals, coordinate meetings, identify and address capacity
building needs and human resource issues
Create budgets for individual events/activities and maintain overall
program budget.
Orientation to new teachers regarding their tasks, role, records to be
maintained etc...
Identify and suggest areas of training for capacity building of team
members
Manage the volunteers, interns and visitors
Requirements
1. Education and Work Experience
Graduate degree, in Education/Social sciences
3 to 5 years of NGO experience specifically in the field of education
preferably in supervisory role.
2. Required Competencies:
Ability to understand and read community dynamics and ensure that
Door Step School’s work reaches out to where it’s most needed.
Effectively problem solve and multi-task.
Build rapport and develop positive relationships with stakeholders in
the community
Ability to work well within a team and be an effective leader who can
create a warm and encouraging team dynamics
Produces high-quality, meticulous and detailed written work
Effectively communicates and represents Door Step School to the
public.
Fluency in oral and written Hindi and Marathi
Working knowledge of computers and specifically, word processing,
spreadsheets and presentations
Ability to self-initiate and make decisions
Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure in resource constrained
