CNC Mill Machinist

Full-time non-exempt position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. *flexible hours policy

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for programming, setup, and operation of CNC (computer numerically controlled) vertical milling centers and manual mills. The machinist will be responsible for the manufacturing of parts from start to finish will minimal supervision and direction on how to best produce parts in a timely manner.

Essential Functions

• Set up and operate machines (automated and manual) such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job and check for accuracy.
• Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations using cam software (Gibbs Cam) or manual machines.
• Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
• Modify programs at the machine or on CAM to produce parts that meet print.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.

Education And Experience

• Vocational school/accredited apprenticeship program or 2 years’ experience in a machine shop environment
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and manuals
• Knowledge of CAM software
• Knowledge of metal properties and other material
• Previous experience with CAM software preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range

$30.00 - $38.00 per hour (DOE - Depending on Experience)
