Summary Of Position
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
This position is in Northstar’s Continuous Improvement Department, and reports to the Manager CI/TPM/Facilities. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain CNC Mills/Lathes, production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production CNC machines and plant facility’s equipment
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Proficient working with CNC controllers; Fanuc (up to 31i), Mazatrol (640, Nexus & matrix), Okuma (OSP-P200 & P300) and Heidenhain
- Perform preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
- Must possess good working knowledge of hydraulic systems, motors, pumps, compressors and be capable of disassembly repair and reassembly of major machine components
- Must possess the knowledge to and ability to perform building maintenance and other associated tasks
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Support and promote a Safety-First Culture and ensure all work is performed in a safe and responsible manner.
- Support EH&S improvement projects and Safety Metrics as required.
- Personal tools to perform duties are required
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
- Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
- The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent experience
Experience Required: 5 years of experience working on mechanical repairs in this field or equivalent
