Position Title: Business Data Analyst

Location: New York, NY (3 Days/ Week)

Duration: 12+ Months (Contract to hire)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Data Analyst with a strong background in the financial services industry, particularly within Capital Markets and Trading platforms. The ideal candidate will blend technical data analysis expertise with strategic business analysis capabilities to support portfolio-building initiatives and ensure compliance with surveillance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform 60–70% data analysis and 30% business analysis functions.
• Analyze and interpret complex datasets to inform business decisions within a trading environment.
• Work closely with stakeholders to create Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs).
• Develop reports and insights supporting capital markets initiatives.
• Assist in building and enhancing portfolio models and trading tools.
• Ensure compliance through understanding and application of surveillance models related to Wash Trades, Marking the Open/Close, Spoofing, and Insider Trading.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in the financial industry, especially within Capital Markets or Trading environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL – capable of writing complex queries and performing large-scale data manipulation.
• Experience working with compliance surveillance platforms such as:
• Actimize
• MANTAS
• Sungard
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in creating formal documentation (BRD/FRD).
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model, with 3 days onsite in New York, NY.
