  • Be Accountable, The Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing and administering employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision and supplemental insurance plans, wellness initiatives, leave policies and other employee perks. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, provides exceptional employee service and support, and collaborates with the Director, Total Rewards to design and enhance benefits programs that align with company values and strategic initiatives.

Reports to: Director, Total Rewards

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and qualifying life events, open enrollment and other benefit changes.
  • Partner with third party administrator for all leave of absence requests. Update ADP for leave start and end dates and coordinate with payroll to ensure teammates are paid appropriately during leave of absence. Ensure teammates, managers and Human Resources Partners are informed throughout the leave process.
  • Manage Leave of Absence benefit billing process.
  • Serve as the primary contact for teammates regarding benefits inquiries, claims issues, policy clarifications and LOA requests.
  • Ensure HCM accurately reflects benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes, including communication, documentation, and responding to teammate inquiries.
  • Provide ongoing benefits education to LRS teammates.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and facilitate the implementation of Benefit modules and carrier connections with ADP Partners and carriers.
  • Research and respond to teammate questions and act as a liaison between teammates and carriers/brokers as needed.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with carriers.
  • Assist in facilitating compliance through posting of required benefits notices, timely administration of benefits and COBRA and staying knowledgeable in regulatory areas.
  • Manage COBRA administration through strong partnership with third party vendor.
  • Process carrier invoices including the creation of self-billing invoices and reconcile benefits deductions with payroll.
  • Generate reports and analyze benefits data to assist in decision-making and program enhancements.
  • Collaborate with applicable vendors to ensure timely and accurate completion of Form 5500 reporting and various benefit plan audits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Approach all responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and appropriate confidentiality.
  • Conduct all job tasks, duties, and interactions with professionalism, respect, a positive attitude, and in accordance with company policies and applicable government regulations.
  • Support HR-related special projects from beginning to end; may include research, communication, development of processes, forms, policies, vendor or product selection, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Benefits and Human Resources team to implement wellness initiatives based on overall program design.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge And Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of all relevant employment and benefit laws with the ability to interpret and apply them within daily business decisions impacting organization performance.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and professionalism regarding personnel information, financial information, employee health, and other sensitive subjects.
  • Experience with self-insured medical plans preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification a plus but not required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage time, prioritize work effectively, meet deadlines, and remain productive amid frequent interruptions and with limited supervision.
  • High-level of attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communications to suit the audience's level of understanding.
  • Must be able to communicate and manage sensitive and sometimes difficult information in a professional, composed, and confident manner.
  • Strong customer/personal service skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.
  • Must be committed to the highest level of business and ethical standards and consistently display integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Willing and able to adapt to changes in work environment, procedures, priorities,and job duties.
  • Ability to extend work hours to meet business needs.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, in field such as Human Resources or Business and a minimum of 3 years of experience directly administering benefits, leave management, including policy/procedure creation and enforcement; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel Required

Some travel may be required for open enrollment, wellness or offsite meetings; travel would be less than 5% of the time.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear, both in person and by phone or web meetings.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to read and interpret data on a computer screen or printed documents.
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels, in a climate-controlled environment with heating and air conditioning.
  • Potential for remote work or hybrid work arrangement.
