Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Backend Software Engineer/LLM Data Scientist for our client, a wonderful AI security startup software company in San Francisco! In this role, you’ll architect the backend of middleware and tools that focus on data security. Your work will sit at the intersection of cybersecurity, modern web architecture, and adversarial large language model research! This is a full time, direct hire role; for candidates already based in the Bay area.

What you will be doing:

• Building systems that ensure data is secure and enriched
• Scripting, processing, automation with Python
• Implement and optimize transformer-based architecture using Hugging Face and PyTorch for applications such as text classification and summarization.
• Develop backend image processing features with Pillow
• Develop browser automation and scraping scripts using Selenium, Chromium, Puppeteer, and Playwright.
• Develop and deploy serverless function on edge platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge) to deliver low latency, scalable backend logic
• Develop and optimize deep backend/AI systems using LLM ontologies, Knowledge Graphs, RAG/VectorDBs, JSON-LD, and CodeAgents to enhance language models

What you will need:

• 5+ years demonstrated expertise in full stack development, with a strong emphasis on backend development.
• Experience in a notable company in the big tech space, especially in the Data Science/ML/AI Security field. Experience in an FAANG/Magnificent 7 is huge plus.
• Experience with Python, including PyTorch, HF Transformers, Pillow, Selenium/Chromium, Puppeteer, and Playwright)
• Experience with edge computing (Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge)
• Experience with LLM ontologies, knowledge graphs (KGs), retrieval augmented generation (RAG) as well as VectorDBs, JSON-LD, and CodeAgents
