Summary

Job Description General Summary Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 3:30pm The Building Automation Technician (BAT) is responsible for monitoring various critical hospital systems, initiating emergency codes (Blue, OBERT, RRT, etc), taking telephone calls from staff, physicians, visitors, and patients, and dispatching calls for service to various departments. The BAT ensures 24-hour coverage of the department and communicates regularly with hospital leadership, staff, visitors, and patients. I. Critical Systems Monitoring - Follows established policies and procedures to actively monitor, manage, and dispatch staff for numerous hospital life safety systems, including: * Fire Alarm * Building Automations / Critical Space Temperature and Humidity Monitoring Systems * Code Blue / Medical Alert Systems * Infant Protection * Panic Alarms * Access Control / Security Systems * Medical Gas Alarms * Emergency Call Boxes * Pneumatic Tube System Company Description When you come to the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, you're coming to more than simply a beautiful 37-acre, 218-bed suburban Baltimore, Maryland campus. Vocational or Technical Degree, preferred. * Two (2) years' relevant experience, preferred. III. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. * Understands the use and procedure around the electronic medical record system. * Basic computer troubleshooting (rebooting, logins, application uses, etc). * Clear, legible writing for log keeping. * Critical thinking, strong knowledge of hospital policies and procedures. IV. Patient Safety Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital and department patient safety initiatives * Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety. * Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority. * Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
