We are looking for a solution-oriented and proactive automation engineer for Orion's pharmaceutical production at our Espoo or Turku site. The automation engineer is responsible for developing the automation of our factories, ensuring smooth operations, and managing the lifecycle, while also performing the other tasks described above. Of course, the applicant has the opportunity to influence the precise content of their role based on their core competencies and interests, and the areas of responsibility will rotate over the years.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Supporting production once needed in automation related questions, troubleshooting HW/SW related issues
- Leading automation design in both modernization and investment projects including: functional designing, defining the HW and SW solutions, coordination of suppliers, partners and sub-contractor, FAT/SAT testing and commissioning, and validation support.
- Participate in production development and design and implement lifecycle management of production equipment from an automation perspective.

Success In This Role Requires
- Relevant education in the field of automation (B.Sc or M.Sc in Engineering) and work experience
- Understanding of the overall operation of PLC-controlled machines
- Skills and experience in functional design
- Good documentation skills and the ability to develop documentation processes
- Proficiency in both spoken and written Finnish and English, as we work in both languages
- Positive attitude towards teamwork and open communication
Additionally, The Following Qualifications Are Considered An Advantage
- Knowledge of automation systems (e.g., Siemens S7/PCS7, Schneider, Systech, machine vision systems)
- Electrically skilled person
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Cadmatic and HW design
- Familiarity with laboratory automation
- Database and programming skills

Unit Description
Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.
In Global Operations we have approximately 1,600 professionals working in Production, our external supplier network (Externally Sourced Operations) and Fermion Oy (API manufacturing and marketing). In addition, the organization includes Supply Chain & Procurement, Technical Operations, Facility Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), CPD&LCM (Commercial Product Development & Product lifecycle management) and Operations Development.
You will become part of the automation team responsible for Orion's process, machine automation, and factory systems at all Orion factory locations. Within the group, we operate in small teams, each with its own areas of responsibility. As a whole, the group is responsible for the maintenance of machines, equipment, and systems, and supports maintenance especially in challenging fault situations. However, our main focus is on projects, and we are heavily involved in operational change and development projects as well as procurement projects in pharmaceutical production.
