Summary

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Design Engineer to join its engineering team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for designing and developing automation systems and equipment used in high-performance manufacturing environments. This position offers a dynamic mix of mechanical and electrical design, innovation, and project involvement from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design automated machinery, components, and systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Develop layouts, schematics, and bills of materials for automated solutions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams on integrated system designs.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and DFMEAs to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
  • Support the fabrication, assembly, and testing phases with hands-on involvement and troubleshooting.
  • Integrate robotics, actuators, sensors, and control hardware into custom designs.
  • Work closely with project managers and clients to translate requirements into functional designs.
  • Stay current on emerging automation technologies and industry best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation or industrial machinery design.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred); understanding of mechanical tolerances and design for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, motion systems, sensors, and basic control systems.
  • Experience designing for robotic integration (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA) is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to design validation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.
