The position of Assistant Manager, Accounts focusing on the accurate and timely execution of financial accounting, tax compliance, and reporting activities across the overseas companies. The role will involve hands-on responsibilities in preparation and coordination of day-to-day accounting and control functions, including active participation in transactions, reconciliations, audit preparation, and data analysis. The role will also support activities related to the greenfield factory in China and other financial control assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts, Tax, and Compliance
Perform and review day-to-day accounting operations including entries for AR/AP, general ledger, inventory, and fixed assets; ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping.
Prepare and maintain and review full sets of accounts for assigned entities, including monthly closing activities, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Draft reports, and schedules for group reporting and local compliance, for review and submission.
Prepare and review management reporting/quarterly and yearly financial slides for management reviews.
Coordinate data collection and provide support for budgeting, and year-end financial reporting processes.
Review of tax computations, transfer pricing documentation, and cross-border tax compliance.
Support the implementation and documentation of internal controls and process improvements in financial reporting and tax compliance.
Work with internal and external auditors by reviewing audit schedules, documents, and resolving audit queries.
Systems
Maintain accurate transactions in the systems (e.g., Navision); assist in system migrations or enhancements.
Financial Controls & Operational Support
Perform reconciliations of key balance sheet items including inventory, receivables, and payables.
Process payments and employee reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
Track and monitor CAPEX spending and help prepare financial models or cost analyses for capital projects.
Support the preparation of financial and operational performance dashboards and metrics.
Assist with preparation and review of vendor contracts, insurance records, and other financial agreements as instructed.
Provide administrative and operational support in HQ coordination with overseas finance teams and factory finance personnel.
Assist in preparing weekly and monthly cash flow reports and forecasts.
Coordinate with subsidiaries and HQ Treasury for banking matters, including document preparation for account setup or changes.
Assist with forex tracking, transaction documentation, and reporting.
Project & Ad Hoc Work
Support project-related financial analysis for the China greenfield factory and distribution subsidiaries.
Coordinate data and documentation for return on investment (ROI) and working capital improvement exercises.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
Professional qualification (ACCA / CA / CPA – completed or in progress) is preferred.
Experience
4–6 years of accounting or financial control experience.
Exposure to trading, FMCG, or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Experience in working with international operations/subsidiaries will be a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
Sound knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/local GAAP).
Detail-oriented, hands-on, and proactive with strong ownership of tasks.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with overseas teams.
Preferences
Experience in audit (internal/external)
Ability to read and write in Chinese language is an advantage as 1-2 group companies are incorporated in the People's Republic of China
Willingness to travel overseas for short-term assignments.
