The Mount Wilson Observatory, located on a 5,710-foot peak in the San Gabriel Mountains near Pasadena, California, was founded by George Ellery Hale in 1904. Home to some of the most significant telescopes in the history of modern astronomy, it is a site of both scientific and Los Angeles historical importance. The Observatory and its grounds welcome public visitors and host various programs during the spring and summer, including telescope observing sessions, lectures, concerts, and educational activities.
Role Description
This is a contract role for an Assistant Event Coordinator. The Assistant Event Coordinator will handle day-to-day tasks including planning and managing events for our 2025 Event Calendar, communicating with volunteers and attendees, providing customer service, setting up and breaking down events, coordinating volunteer staffing roles, collaborating with staff to best serve the guests, and supporting sales activities related to events. This is an on-site role located at the Mount Wilson Observatory in La Canada Flintridge, CA, with some tasks done remotely such as finding vendors for events.
