The Role
We’re now on the lookout for an organised, driven, and collaborative
Assistant Category Manager to join our Merchandise team. In this key support role, you’ll work closely with our National Category Managers to help shape the success of our category strategies, supplier relationships, and promotional planning.

What You’ll Do
- Support the development with execution of category plans to drive business performance.
- Assist in managing supplier relationships to achieve optimal trading terms.
- Coordinate product and pricing activity for sales and promotional campaigns.
- Provide ongoing support to stores with problem solving, communication and execution of category initiatives.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data across product files and databases.
- Process new product submissions and manage the central product file based on approvals.
- Work closely with the National Category Managers on range reviews, private brand initiatives and competitor analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Australian standards, safety regulations, and supplier terms.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and positive workplace environment, aligned with Total Tools’ values and OH&S policies.
Your Skills & Experience
- Experience in retail, merchandising, or category support roles (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills – you thrive in a team-focused environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and product/merchandise management systems.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A genuine passion for retail, customer service, and the tools industry.
- Successful completion of Secondary School Year 12
- Commerce degree or equivalent (favourable, not mandatory)
- Current driver’s license
