Are you a skilled problem-solver with a passion for IT support? We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join our evolving IT team in Manchester. In this dynamic role, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our application landscape, providing exceptional 3rd line support, managing incidents, and driving continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing 3rd line support for critical business applications. Your key duties will include troubleshooting complex issues, managing incidents, and ensuring timely resolutions in line with SLAs. You'll also proactively maintain and optimize our application landscape, contribute to internal projects, and ensure compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line support for incidents, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
- Work closely with business stakeholders and internal/third-party teams to ensure timely incident resolutions.
- Apply problem-solving skills to recreate, debug, and resolve issues, while performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Participate in on-call support for critical incidents outside regular hours.
- Maintain and update support documentation for deploying and configuring applications.
- Monitor, deploy, and manage application updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Contribute to internal projects by reviewing technical designs, assisting with environment builds, and supporting deployments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, including data protection, health and safety, and acceptable usage regulations.
- Assist with any other duties within the scope of the role, as requested by your line manager, based on business needs.
What You Will Bring
To excel in this role, you'll need to bring a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and experience in application support.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong experience managing Windows Server, IIS, and Active Directory Services.
- Knowledge of T-SQL (MS SQL) and/or PL/SQL.
- Experience with minor programming or scripting (e.g., .NET or PowerShell).
- Experience using IT Service Management tools (e.g., SCSM, ServiceNow).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience within an IT department, preferably in a similar support role.
- Familiarity with IT service management processes (e.g., ITIL) is beneficial.
Additional Skills (Nice To Have)
- Experience with Azure AD, Azure IaaS/PaaS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (2012AX or 365).
- Experience administering Office365.
- Familiarity with software deployment systems (e.g., Octopus Deploy).
