Cognito Therapeutics, Inc. is a venture-backed (Morningside Ventures, FoundersX) startup company translating scientific findings from MIT into therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. We were awarded a Breakthrough designation by the FDA in December 2020 based upon our feasibility data that showed preservation of cognition and function in Alzheimer's patients. Cognito initiated our pivotal study for treatment of Alzheimer's in Dec 2022 and nearing total enrollment. We are a fast-moving, highly motivated team of people with the ambitious goal of helping millions of patients and caregivers around the world who are burdened by neurodegenerative conditions. With our patented gamma stimulation technology, we are committed to developing non-invasive device-based therapies.
Summary of Role
We are seeking a driven and entrepreneurial AI Solutions Intern to support the development of internal AI-powered processes and tools. This role is ideal for someone excited about shaping how AI is adopted across a company-not just in the product, but in operations, R&D, clinical workflows, and decision-making.
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, clinical, operations) to identify opportunities for internal AI integration.
* Build lightweight internal tools or dashboards to automate or enhance workflows (e.g., experiment tracking, data annotation, model monitoring).
* Help structure and optimize internal data pipelines for AI readiness-ensuring clean, usable, and well-documented datasets.
* Contribute to the development of internal frameworks or documentation that support future AI scalability and governance.
* Evaluate and experiment with open-source or off-the-shelf AI platforms that could enhance company efficiency.
* Support internal education initiatives by creating knowledge artifacts (e.g., notebooks, wikis, demo scripts) that demystify AI tools for non-technical teams.
Qualifications & Experience
* Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
* Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with tools like Jupyter, pandas, SQL, and Streamlit or Dash.
* Exposure to machine learning concepts and experience using ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
* Experience building small tools, dashboards, or internal utilities is a strong plus.
* Strong communication skills-able to translate technical insights to cross-functional teams.
* Curious, self-directed, and energized by solving real-world problems in a fast-paced, mission-driven start-up.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare or medical technology environments.
* Knowledge of best practices in data governance, model lifecycle management, or MLOps.
* Interest in ethical, regulatory, and practical considerations for using AI in medical devices.
