Title: AR Accountant

Location: Sterling VA - 5 days per week

Department: Finance / Accounting

Reports To: Accounting Manager / Finance Director

Salary: $55-60K (depending on experience)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Receivable Accountant to manage and support the AR functions of our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of customer invoices, payments, and account reconciliations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Generate and issue accurate invoices to customers in a timely manner.
• Monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding balances and overdue payments.
• Follow up on past-due accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Apply customer payments and reconcile customer accounts regularly.
• Maintain accurate AR records and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Assist with cash application, collections, and credit checks.
• Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to resolve payment issues.
• Prepare AR aging reports and other financial reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Excel.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in [industry-specific AR processes, e.g., retail, manufacturing, SaaS, etc.].
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
