Finance executives are accountable for a business's money transactions, including income and expenses. They are responsible for ensuring that their organization is profitable. Financial managers and accountants manage cash-flow statements, budgeting, and tax planning. They also determine ways for the company to cut costs to maximize profits. You need to weave all of these things (depending on your specific history) into your resume.

Why use this financial executive resume example?

This Senior Finance Manager resume has a very good summary with an introductory statement that highlights their most valuable knowledge areas. The main section of the overview is short (four sentences) and includes a nice list of accomplishments and skills. It ends with a great list of technical hard skills.

The next sections have clean bullet point lists that highlight their best skills and accomplishments. Remember to keep these sections short. Expertise and skills should be listed in just a few words. Use industry-recognized keywords. Accomplishments and achievements need to be a short sentence, one or two lines at most. Keep both listings very brief because they can take up a lot of space and potential employers will not pay attention to long lists.

How to write a great financial management resume

As with any resume, you want to create a good and memorable impression on the reader. For any role in the finance industry, it’s all about the Benjamins! You’ve got to show them how you made money for the company. It could be revenues, cost savings, or anything else that directly generated profits. Whenever possible, include numbers when describing your efforts and accomplishments. 

Make each section of your resume concise. Don’t use a lot of extra words. Your goal is to fit your entire resume onto a single page or two (if you have a lot of experience). Choosing your words carefully is extremely important. Include keywords, but don’t use a lot of acronyms or jargon.

Include only your best stuff. Your accomplishments and achievements should be in bullet point lists. The key to keeping your resume on point is to just list your most impressive work. You can always give them more details in your cover letter or in an interview.
