Summary

Our Mission: The mission of the Coatesville Youth Initiative is to contribute to a vibrant future for Coatesville by engaging youth in experiences that support their success in school and in life, and by uniting a wide range of partners to make the community better for everyone. Position Overview: The CYI Program Coordinator serves to provide planning, coordination, implementation and assessment of CYI programs, which includes supporting programming in Youth Development, Substance Prevention, Parental & Family Engagement and Coalition Building. The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in working to bring youth, residents and local organizations together in an effort to support the needs and development of youth. This position requires an average of 2 evenings per week and one weekend per month, in addition to the standard hours. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES Provide planning, coordination, implementation and assessment of Youth Development programs working with youth and providing daily, hands-on motivation, support, guidance, and oversight to youth program participants within the ServiceCorps summer leadership and workforce development program, the Game Changers youth council, and other Youth Engagement programs and activities, such as field trips, and “fun days”. - Provide support to the afterschool-based Learning Center, providing general oversight of tutors, mentors and youth and families utilizing the Center. Provide planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of Substance & Violence Prevention programs, which includes developing and distributing substance & violence prevention information throughout the community, including within Coatesville schools and at local community events, and implanting substance & violence prevention activities. - Develop and support fun and engaging prevention-based activities within the community. Provide planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of Family/Parental Engagement programs, which includes supporting the CYI family mediation and parent support programs. - Oversee the administration of the CYI Parent and Youth Engagement Afterschool program, helping parents lean the skills needed to successfully support their children’s’ needs. Provide planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of Coalition Building activities, working hands-on in the community to enhance cooperation and coordination among organizations and residents, in an effort to get organizations and resident to partner and work together to implement youth development, substance prevention and Family & Parent Engagement programs and policy changes. - Provide support to CYI summer programs for youth (Camp Quiet Thunder and the ServiceCorps program). Represent Coatesville Youth Initiative in the community and attend local/regional meetings, trainings and conferences. REQUIRED SKILLS · Bachelor’s degree, with at least 1 years of program coordination experience. · A minimum of 1 year of experience educating/working directly and hands-on with youth. · A minimum of 1 years of experience building relationships, with the proven ability to build connections with people. · A passion for working with youth and parents. · Proven ability to engage with and develop strong relationships with youth and parents. · Experience recruiting and bringing people together around a cause. · Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to clearly communicate work progress, results and needs. · Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as a member of a high performing team. · Ability to relate to a culturally diverse population, including the ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people, staff, and community members. · Commitment to the mission and values of CYI and desire to blend in with the company culture. · Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends. · Ability to build positive working relationships with community individuals, groups and organizations. · MS Office Suite experience and/or proficiency. · Possess a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, clean driving record. · Current child abuse, criminal history, and FBI fingerprinting clearances required upon hire. PREFERRED SKILLS · Familiarity with the Coatesville community. · Experience overseeing community-based committees or work groups. · Experience implementing substance prevention strategies to reduce use and abuse (i.e. drugs, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs). · Experience facilitating meetings and building consensus. · Social media experience in a business setting. · Coalition building knowledge/experience is a plus. · The ability to be flexible, have initiative, set priorities, and operate at a high level of productivity. · Ability to keep accurate records, generate reports, and meet deadlines. · Ability to identify a need, plan a course of action around the need, implement a course of action and evaluate progress related to the course of action; develop work plans.
