Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Children and Families, the Youth Development Coordinator will provide entry-level support for a team working with First Nations youth. The Youth Development Coordinator will also assist with the implementation of various workshops and events throughout the summer. This position is designed for a post-secondary student who is returning to school in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist staff with establishing a rapport with youth and families through regular contact and maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Work with staff to help youth complete the intake process and develop a Brave Path.
- Ensue that youth have support with short- and long-term planning.
- Help facilitate workshops that are designed to meet the needs of participants, create opportunities for healing, cultural awareness, life skills, and employment skills.
- Assist the team in seeking resources in housing, education employment, training, treatment, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Must be a post-secondary student returning to school in September 2025.
- Knowledge of First Nations issues related to the child welfare, justice, education and health care systems.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Adherence to office practices, procedures, and confidentiality.
- Able to work flexible hours and travel upon request.
- Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and reliable vehicle considered an asset.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
