We are seeking an internal or external applicant to join our Wind Engineering Team as a
Wind Engineer in our
Guelph, ON office. Remote applicants are not being considered at this time.
Role
This a technically focused role that requires you to put the client first and to have a sense of ownership over the projects you work on:
- Client First: Working with our clients and your colleagues at RWDI to solve challenging engineering problems related to wind loads and effects on structures.
- Technical Focus: Consulting on the aerodynamics and wind response of long and flexible aeroelastic structures (e.g., long-span bridges and solar arrays).
- Ownership Mentality: Taking ownership over the planning and coordination of all technical aspects of assigned projects including wind tunnel model design, design of experiments, communication of results to clients through reports and presentations, ensuring that we are hitting our internal and external milestones.
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
- Minimum of Master’s degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering with research focused on wind engineering, bluff body aerodynamics, and/or structural dynamics. 2+ years’ experience in Bluff Body Aerodynamics, Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity is strongly preferred.
- Experience with experimental methods (e.g., wind tunnel, water flume, instrumentation, etc.).
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of structural dynamics, applied in a practical setting
- As an engineering consulting company, we are driven by our client first and client focused mindset
- Comfortable with scientific computing/data science (e.g. Python, Matlab) and LaTex.
- Knowledge of the design of structures and/or knowledge and application of wind sections of building codes (i.e., AASHTO LRFD, CSA S6, EN 1991-1-4, NBCC, ASCE 7).
- An aptitude for practical problem solving and proven ability to successfully meet deadlines.
- Professional Engineering designation in the Province of Ontario, or eligible to gain designation in 2-4 years.
