POSITION SUMMARY:
The Women, Infants, Children (WIC) Program Manager is responsible for the coordination of the program, supervision of respective staff, and providing nutrition education, assessment, and services to patients. This position reports to the Director of Patient Education and Programs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
* Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
* Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
* Supports implements and fosters a greater staff understanding of the Mission, and Values of Community Medical Centers, Inc. (CMC)
* Work in collaboration with CMC leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program services
* Support WIC Site Supervisors with site operations
* Acts as the Primary WIC Program Contact for State WIC
* Support WIC Site Supervisors with scheduling and coordinating WIC staff and WIC site operations
* Attend regional/state WIC meetings.
* Oversee the coordination receipt, distribution, reconciliation, and security for WIC EBT cards and FMNP cards.
* Complete program reporting requirements for California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and CMC
* Review CDPH WIC and CMC Policy and Procedure Manual and implement as required.
* Coordinate WIC outreach activities and integration of WIC with clinical services.
* In coordination with CMC finance department assists in preparing and overseeing WIC budget under the direction of State WIC
* Recruits, trains, develops, and supervises WIC staff members
* Completes employee performance appraisals.
* Monitor compliance with funding objectives and program standards.
* Supports the WIC Nutrition Education Coordinator and WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator in the development of yearly nutrition education plan and supervises its implementation.
* Responsible for the development and monitoring of CQI efforts in coordination with the WIC Site Supervisors.
* Coordinates with the Contracts department to develops and monitor memorandums of understanding between WIC and other community based programs.
* Train and monitor departmental staff compliance with OSHA, Blood borne, and safety policies including annual CLIA training.
* Determine eligibility/participation of WIC applicants.
* Provide nutrition education and counseling in individual and class settings to WIC participants.
* Develop care plans for high-risk participants if a registered dietitian.
* Promote breastfeeding as the norm to all pregnant and postpartum WIC participants and their families
* Coordinates ongoing nutrition and breastfeeding trainings with the WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator and WIC Nutrition Education Coordinator.
* Participate in CMC and community meetings as assigned.
* Travels to different sites as needed.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's Degree and satisfactory completion of an internship approved by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and registered or registration eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration; OR
* Master's Degree in the area of public health, social services, or health education. Experience should reflect progressive responsibility and experience in health education, social services, nutrition, or case management programs; OR
* Five (5) years working in health, social services, or health education with experience that reflects progressive responsibility and experience in health education, social services, nutrition, or case management programs.
* And one year experience working as WIC dietitian, lactation consultant, WIC Nutrition Aide, or other related work.
* Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) or ability to obtain BLS certificate if International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) status is current.
* One year management experience.
* Specific knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability in areas of budget development and management, supervision and management of personnel, grant management, communication, and leadership skills are expected.
* Ability to relate to low-income, minority individuals.

* Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
* Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
* Ability to work independently with minimum on/off site supervision.
* Ability to maintain quality control standards.
* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Ability to interpret, adapt and apply appropriate written guidelines and work practices.
* Ability to communicate clearly.
* Ability to identify problems, provide information and provide alternative solutions.
* Ability to make judgments about dietary deficiencies.
* Ability to prepare and compile records and reports .
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires frequent walking and standing for prolonged periods of time. Requires sitting for prolonged periods of time. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity necessary to utilize computer keyboard in daily activities. Requires ability to drive automobile or similar transportation to attend various clinics and other functions. Must be able to occasionally lift or push up to 50 pounds.
