About SBEV At the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village, our mission is to cultivate leadership capacity. We offer free year-round programming to youth ages 5-17 in the Flint, MI and Chicago area. Our programs in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts are taught by local professionals who dedicate their time to reinvesting their skills and knowledge and giving back to the young people. By developing and investing in youth, we desire to positively transform the landscape of justice and equity in our city. Our doors are open to everyone! Covering 10 different areas, we offer many different programs that youth can choose from. Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village (SBEV) is a dynamic and community-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness in our local community. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Dietitian to lead nutrition programming in our grant-funded Community Wellness Program. This program aims to provide nutrition counseling, collaborate with community healthcare partners, sponsor community wellness events, partner with fitness organizations, and operate a food pantry to address the nutritional needs of our community. In addition, the coordinator will play a crucial role in developing sustainable solutions for the program beyond the grant period. Key Responsibilities: Nutrition Counseling: Provide individualized nutrition counseling and education to community members, addressing their specific dietary needs and goals. Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition plans for clients, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as necessary. Collaboration with Healthcare Partners: Foster strong relationships with local healthcare providers and clinics to ensure seamless referral and coordination of care for program participants. Collaborate with healthcare partners on the development of integrated health and nutrition programs. Community Wellness Events: Plan, organize, and execute community wellness events, workshops, and seminars related to nutrition, health, and well-being. Engage community members in wellness initiatives and encourage active participation. Partnerships with Fitness Organizations: Establish and maintain partnerships with local fitness centers, gyms, and fitness instructors to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Coordinate fitness programs and initiatives to complement nutritional guidance. Food Pantry Operations: Oversee the management and operations of the on-site food pantry, ensuring access to nutritious food for community members in need. Develop strategies to reduce food insecurity within the community. Sustainability Planning: Work closely with the organization's leadership team to develop a sustainability plan for the Community Wellness Program post-grant period. Identify potential funding sources, community partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunities to ensure the program's long-term success. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, program activities, and outcomes. Prepare and submit regular reports to grantors and stakeholders, showcasing the program's impact and progress. **Qualifications:** Required - Registered Dietitian (RD) credential with current state licensure. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or related field. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse community members. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and nutrition-related software. - CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Preferred Experience in grant management, program development, and sustainability planning is highly desirable.
