Job Summary:

The Welding Engineer - QC will be responsible for ensuring compliance with welding standards and procedures, overseeing welder qualifications, and conducting quality assurance checks. The candidate should have strong knowledge of welding technology and industry standards, with a focus on quality control and process improvement in a shop floor environment.


Key Responsibilities:

1. WPS Compliance:

Implement and enforce Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) in line with AWS D1.1, ASME, and EN 15609 standards.

2. Welder Qualification:

Conduct and evaluate welder qualification tests per established standards (ASME, AWS, EN).

3. Welding Supervision:

Monitor welding activities on the shop floor and ensure alignment with WPS requirements.

4. Training & Development:

Develop training programs and provide hands-on training to welders to improve their skills and ensure compliance.

5. Performance Tracking:

Track welder performance metrics and recommend improvements.

6. Quality Assurance:

Perform spot checks and random audits to ensure welding activities meet required standards.

7. Record Keeping:

Maintain detailed inspection records for all welding activities on the shop floor.

8. Defect Analysis & Mitigation:

Identify root causes of weld defects and implement corrective actions.

9. Process Improvement:

Introduce and apply best practices in welding to enhance quality and efficiency.


Requirements:

1. Diploma / BE in Mechanical or any degree in welding technology with 3–4 years of welding experience.

2. Completion of a certified welding course from a recognized Indian institutes

3. Drawing reading skills

4. In-depth knowledge of welding technology and codes/standards (ASME, AWS, EN ISO, PED, API)

5. Familiarity with welding processes and defect controls

6. Required Sectors: Heavy Engineering, Fabrication, Oil & Gas, Acoustic Industries
