Program Monitor (Weekend Evening, Swing)
Summary
Swords to Plowshares seeks qualified applicants for the position of full-time Program Monitor. The Program Monitor is the gatekeeper to the Residences - enforcing Swords to Plowshares policies to ensure safe, decent housing for residents. Program Monitors oversee daily building activities, provide security, and respond to building and tenant emergencies. They also complete appropriate documentation and work with staff to facilitate treatment and identify program participants’ issues. As the first point of contact for visitors to our properties, Program Monitors are required to exhibit professional, courteous and respectful conduct to residents and building guests, enforcing property rules while creating a welcoming environment. “Safe Haven” is a transitional housing residence for veterans seeking permanent housing or other options to end homelessness as appropriate to their needs. Residency is determined by individual development plans. Residents are not required to participate in treatment, but treatment options are available onsite.
This position is located at the Swords to Plowshares Fairfax Hotel Safe Haven Facility, 420 Eddy Street, San Francisco. The Daytime Program Monitor is a full-time, non-exempt position, regularly scheduled for work 4pm-12am Saturday and Sunday . This position reports to the Program Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ability to appropriately respond to and resolve conflict
Monitor daily common area activities of building residents and guests
Maintain building security by ensuring consistent desk coverage
Screen all visitors entering and exiting the building
Plan, prepare and serve daily onsite dinner for Safe Haven program vets, to include clean up
Manage food inventory under supervision of Program Manager
Maintain accurate and complete documentation, i.e. incident reports, complaints, and daily logs entries
Respond to building emergencies in compliance with Property and Program Management requirements
Assist tenants in completing work orders, incident reports, and grievances
Assist the Program and Property Manager with administrative tasks as directed
Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry, and lobby
Follow all procedures as developed and distributed
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Associate’s degree, High School diploma or GED considered with experience
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with populations with complex behavioral health and substance use issues, with at least one (1) year in a human service agency. Translatable military experience and skills may be substituted
Basic computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Word, and online applications for timekeeping activities.
Good attendance record
Organized with attention to detail
Ability to manage time efficiently
Ability to pass Food Handler’s course upon hire
Aptitude for and enjoyment of cooking for others a plus!!!
Ability to remain calm and responsive during emergencies
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
An understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people
Must be able to sit & stand for prolonged periods
Must be able to lift 25lbs

Salary & Benefits
Hourly Rate : $23.81 / hour
