Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Web Governance Manager at its Detroit campus location.

Position Purpose
The Web Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring the university is publishing content at the highest quality and adhering to policies associated with websites, social media and digital communication. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Digital Experience and Innovation, responsibilities include but are not limited to the web governance, identity, privacy, accessibility and social media policies. Providing the University with professional and technical expertise in the development, revision, publication and maintenance of web and digital content. Collaborates with University leaders and staff to provide an on-brand university identity, high-performing, accurate, up to date, secure and accessible campus-wide IT environment, including hardware, software applications, web content, web tools, and other online and classroom technologies.
Essential Functions
Performs reviews and audits of university websites and electronic documents to ensure compliance with university policy. Provides written documentation on violations and remediation steps to stakeholders. Provides reports to leadership on progress of remediation.
Provides expert digital technology assistance to ensure on-brand university identity, high-performing and actionable content. Leads efforts to create and implement training programs for campus communicators and other impacted university employees regarding website publishing guidelines, accessibility and privacy. Creates and maintains the university’s web governance resource website.
Creates the requirements for, analyzes and uses the tools used to conduct web governance, privacy and accessibility reviews. Conducts routine and ad-hoc reviews of content to ensure compliance with policies.
Create, oversee, and enforce the current web governance policy; plan and approve changes to web governance and related policies; define and manage web standards.
Performs reviews and provides written remediation recommendations on third-party applications that are being evaluated for purchase. Works with third-party vendors and the University's procurement partners to ensure procurement of accessible products and improve the accessibility of third-party products.
Identifies industry approaches and best practices for compliance with web governance policies that pertain to web and digital content. Leads efforts to implement when appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
Minimum two years of experience in accessible website design and development in a professional setting.
Experience working in higher education preferred.
Experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web development languages.
Professional accessibility certifications, including but not limited to: Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competency (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to present technical information in layman terms to groups or one-on-one.
