Summary

$5,000 Signing Bonus* Are you a collaborative engineer passionate about improving our watersheds, stormwater quality, and reducing flooding through the implementation of innovative and sustainable stormwater capital improvement projects? The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES), Stormwater Management, seeks a Water Resources Engineer to provide project management and engineering design of watershed restoration and stormwater capital improvement projects. Responsibilities include: * Leads the Water Resources Engineering Section in the North's Watershed Projects Implementation Branch, managing a team of engineers and consultants, while overseeing projects and consultant contracts for initiatives like stream restoration, low impact development, detention basin upgrades, flood control, and other water and environmental projects. * Manages projects by setting and overseeing the scope, timelines, resources, and relationships with stakeholders as well as handling permits, coordination, contracts, and communication, while making sure everything aligns with County and Division safety policies. * Collaborates with external engineers, environmental experts, and construction teams to make the most of County resources while ensuring that construction documents, such as plans and specs from architecture and engineering firms, are up to standard. Also, ensures that all documents comply with local, state, and federal laws, obtains the required permits, and manages project schedules and budget estimates. * Manages utility relocation proposals and contract payments and collaborates on project designs with county and non-county agencies and residents. Prepares and delivers presentations to residents to inform and gain support from the community and stakeholders. * The ideal candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to establish collaborative relationships with elected officials, executive managers, other professionals, residents and environmental groups.
