Job Summary

As an Engineer in Warehouse Design, you will be the key contributor to creating a comprehensive design package for a warehouse. This includes developing detailed plans for material flow, layout, equipment, automation, storage systems, processes, and even the optimal placement of items within the warehouse (slotting) and picking strategies. Evaluating return on investment (ROI), defining business requirements. Essentially, you're the architect of efficient warehouse operations.

What You Do

  • Support the growth and development of the Distribution network, including facility design, optimizing space utilization, and launching new distribution centers.
  • Skilled in performing statistical analysis for network modeling
  • Understands warehouse operations and identifies delays and opportunities for improvement to increase warehouse productivity Observes warehouse employees, breaks down processes, identifies bottlenecks, and identifies problems related to systems, procedures, or pace issues.
  • Project management: Ability to present new initiatives for warehouse improvement, including building case studies, obtaining buy-in from stakeholders, evaluating ROI, creating timelines, and tracking project milestones.
  • Assess, compare, and recommend Material Handling solutions.
  • Recognize order cadence and waving strategies lead to an increase in warehouse productivity.
  • Collaborate with Slotting initiatives: able to recommend logic, validate simulations, approve slotting moves for production, and track efficiency of inventory moves completed.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, Industrial or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years’ engineering experience working in warehousing, supply chain, logistics, or a related field
  • 3+ experience in Industrial Engineering is a plus
  • Strong AutoCAD experience and engineering principles are necessary
  • Project and resource management experience; maintain issues log, create process flows, establish critical path, and maintain documents.
  • Analytical - Experience working with large sets of data.
  • Experience designing industry-specific products
  • Experience in Inventory management and modeling.
  • Works well under deadlines, self-starter, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused, etc.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Working knowledge of SQL.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with employees at different levels of the organization (office and warehouse employees).
  • Forward thinking, strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to adapt to varying work schedules as needed.
