Summary

The VP/Head of People is an integral leader within the executive team. Reporting to the President, you are expected to provide executive-level leadership and head the organization’s Human Resources operations. The VP/Head of People plays a key role in the company’s ability to grow, providing impactful long-range strategies for talent acquisition, talent management, employee experience, engagement, career development, and retention, as well as setting legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices that inspire, motivate and support employees and the success of the organization.


The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of implementing business strategies and guidance by developing high-performing human resources teams and leaders. You will act as a business partner to the executive team, providing counsel and advice on organizational design, change management, performance metrics, and productivity. As VP/Head of People, you will be a culture champion - developing and enhancing our “Best Place to Work” environment through innovative recruitment branding, praise and recognition programs, DEI initiatives, and career ladder/succession planning in alignment with our organizational mission, vision, and values. You will play a key role as a thought partner with leaders to consistently adapt and improve recruitment strategies by implementing best practices with a market and data-driven approach to decision-making.

You will play a key role in guiding Royal’s continual improvement and innovative practices to maintain market dominance and drive growth in new markets and service lines.


How You Will Make An Impact

  • Continue development of the HR Business Partner role - shift towards strategic HR management, data-driven decision-making, employee experience, talent management, and effective collaboration
  • Designing and facilitating learning experiences that unlock the potential for new levels of leadership and innovation.
  • Design and collaborate with organizational leaders to implement world-class employee experience through journey mapping and elevating touchpoints
  • Evolve talent acquisition and retention practices.
  • Lead employment branding, making Royal Ambulance the most well-known and best place to work.
  • Creating programs and opportunities for employees to develop their careers and professional and management competencies
  • Design, build, and implement a performance management process and assessment design that ties to the goals and metrics of the company
  • Coordinate enterprise-wide HR support, collaborating with business partners on key needs and ensuring HR team members offer highly integrated services.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership on ways to support the mission and vision through talent management, human resource planning, and organization development needs
  • Evolve key performance indicators for the organization’s people and talent management, and assess the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics
  • Lead people strategies, ensuring processes, culture, communication practices, and programs create a top employee experience
  • Evolve the design and management of the performance management process and system (UKG) that corresponds with the organization’s annual goals and accomplishments
  • Leadership development and coaching - Program Design and Ownership
  • Designing and facilitating learning experiences that unlock the potential for new levels of leadership and communication.
  • Maintain compliance standards vital to the business, its performance, and its reputation as a premier provider across employment, benefits, insurance, safety, laws, and other regulations and requirements rigorously
  • Establish data analysis protocols for reliable reporting on HR results, recruitment, retention, churn, engagement, learning and development, and succession planning
  • Advanced competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs
  • Support and Evolve the Company’s Praise and Recognition Program, proposing new, creative initiatives to enrich our culture and acknowledgment of our team members
  • Collaborate with the CFO and finance team to analyze investments in human capital-related programs and initiatives
  • Participate in professional development and networking conferences and events
  • Perform other duties as agreed upon


Management Responsibilities

  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports, optimizing and scaling the HR department structure and composition to align with the company's goals
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level HR staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees per company policies


Education and Experience Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Master’s degree is highly preferred


Required Experience:

  • At least ten years of human resource management experience is required, with strategic talent management and team development
  • Knowledge in the fields of HR, Talent Development, and Change Management
  • Knowledge of California employment-related laws and regulations
  • Experience with HRIS systems, tools, and best practices

  • Expert proficiency with Google Suite, UKG, Tableau, Lever, LMS, PM, and related software
