About the Role The VP, Quality Engineering will lead the definition and implementation of full lifecycle product development quality practices and processes for APL at InvestCloud. They are passionate about software and software quality, and constantly looks for ways to improve how InvestCloud works, from product envisioning, definition through to client certification and implementation. They understand that quality is built into the product not just checked at the end, therefore engages with product management, engineering, and operations to ensure testing is included in all aspects of the product development lifecycle. What does a great VP, Quality Engineering do? The VP, Quality Engineering defines, implements, and manages the testing and test data management tools for development, quality control, regression, security, operations, and post implementation testing. They shapes and lead the test engineering teams, functional and non-functional test, regression. The VP, Quality Engineering is a software engineer at heart and coaches and mentors our product engineering team in modern software development practices such as unit testing, TDD, A/TDD (BDD), static analysis, and more. They will continuously measure and analyze software quality using metrics, as well as providing accurate and timely updates and dashboards on the state of software releases and production to the software development teams, stakeholders and clients as needed. Quality Assurance Processes and Practices The VP, Quality Engineering QA loves to learn, is an active participant in the software quality industry and is constantly looking to improve the IC Product Development processes and practices. Will ensure all staff are coached and trained in the execution of them and on a regular basis will monitor and improve them. Tooling and Data Management * Has a good knowledge of the test tools in the market. * Will review the tools that InvestCloud uses today, and ensure they are being used optimally, upgrading or moving to more appropriate tool sets. * Learning from others in the industry and keeping in touch with developments. InvestCloud currently operates with WebDriver, xUnit, Specflow, Jasmine, Karma, Selenium, Load Runner, MABL, and has home-grown test tools for the APL platform. Leads the testing teams At InvestCloud we have system integration test and performance test teams, the VP, Quality Engineering will lead these and continually improve the way they validate, and regression test the IC products. Coaching and mentoring The VP, Quality Engineering is an expert in Acceptance and Test-Driven Development, with hands on knowledge you can work with the development teams and teach them clean code and TDD approaches and techniques. Working with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Business System Analysts to teach, coach and review the application of Behavior Driven Development practices and processes. Support and grow the skills of the System Integration Test team, enabling them to move further up the value chain of quality, using techniques such as exploratory testing, black box, etc. Quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting * Defines the dashboards, and test tracking process and ensures they are produced and accurate. * Ensures there is effective communication and collaboration with the delivery teams are fully aware of the status and priorities of defects. * Provides the right level of information and reports to leadership and clients, as needed. * Drives metric definition, collection, and analysis of the quality of each release and the InvestCloud product set. * Uses metrics to help discover areas that need improvement, and to assess if the improvement actions have made a positive impact. Essential Qualifications for Consideration: * Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in a relevant field. * 20+ years of experience in the software development field * Must have testing skills; A/TDD techniques and processes, unit testing, functional validation testing, all aspects of performance, security and code quality analysis static and dynamic. * Hands on experience with behavior driven development * Deep knowledge of the software quality industry, well versed in the latest software testing approaches * Experience of leading teams and influencing developers and product management * Must have experience with software system design and architecture * Knowledge of build pipelines, continuous integration and delivery.
