Position Description
We are seeking an experienced, innovative Community Engagement Manager to join our organization. This role works on all aspects of internal and external communications with the Executive Committee, supporters, and the public. This individual also assists with the delivery of education and volunteer programs.
Your Impact on our Mission
This position is critical to our mission and the key responsibilities you will perform as a part of our Team include, but are not limited to
- Coordinating public outreach programs
- Developing and organizing educational programs and activities for volunteers and the community
- Writing and creating presentations, press action requests, newsletter articles, brochures, flyers, and other public awareness materials for the sustainability of our volunteer programs
- Participating in local, regional, and national organizations focused on environmental education, volunteerism, and community outreach goals and objectives
- Assisting in outreach efforts with new and existing partners (i.e. non-profits, local entities, etc.)
- Maintaining continuous lines of communication, including keeping the Executive Director informed of all critical issues
- Representing the organization externally as necessary
What You’ll Bring To The Team
Along with their passion for our mission, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- People-person with positive attitude and resourceful approach
- Self-starter who shows great initiative, completes tasks, pays attention to detail, and meets deadlines with minimum supervision
- Works well independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- Background in environmental/watershed/ocean stewardship is preferred
- Prior experience with a non-profit organization is preferred
- Location within the 48 contiguous United States is highly preferred
Applicants must also have the ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours in the Central Standard (CST) Time Zone. We are looking for someone who can dedicate a few hours per week, and can commit for at least 6 months (though we’d love to have you even longer)!
