Job Description

In the last decade, we have managed to go from one store to over 50… and we are still growing! As the Visual Merchandising Associate Manager, you will play a vital role on our Retail Visuals team, directly reporting to the Director of Visual Merchandising. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating exceptional in-store experiences. As the Visual Merchandiser, you'll be expected to use your creative and organizational flair to collaborate with cross functional teams to elevate the overall in-store experience across Marine Layer stores.

This includes:

  • Playing a pivotal creative role in shaping the visual identity of our retail spaces and contributing to creating memorable customer experiences.
  • Being quick on your feet! From managing visual floor sets, to creating guidelines for all stores to follow, your role will be dynamic and diverse.
  • Contributing to larger visual merchandising strategy conversations, working in step with the Director of Visual Merchandising to identify store priorities and propose solutions.


This role works cross-functionally with our Brand Environment, Retail Operations, Store Planning, and Merchandising team. This role reports to our Director of Visual Merchandising and has no direct reports.

Scope

Specifically, you’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Developing creative Visual Merchandising solutions for several product categories (men’s, women’s and accessories) to drive sales and help attract new customers
  • Designing and creating Visual Merchandising strategies and displays for the stores using our HQ visual studio
  • Elevating the brand image by creating appealing and eye-catching visual displays & merchandising solutions that lead the customer through the entire store and create an impactful customer experience.
  • Creating compelling window displays(styling) that support our seasonal campaign and brand messaging and drive traffic into our stores.
  • Providing a variety of different Visual solutions based on store configuration, layout and fixture concepts.
  • Designing comprehensive, simple to follow Visual Guidelines for stores to use to implement Visual floor sets, updates and events.
  • Collaborating with the Merchandising team to develop Merchandising strategies to support in-store events, drive sales & ensure product sell-through.
  • Partnering with field retail leaders to ensure their specific store needs are met.

Qualifications

You should know the brand, like the brand, and understand what it takes to build the brand and represent the company in an authentic way. You will be responsible for helping build a team and culture that reinforces and strengthens our brand.

Experienced in Visual Merchandising

We are looking for someone with experience. We want someone who has been in a similar role and already has the proven ability to pay acute attention to detail, work cross-functionally across multiple departments, and seamlessly navigate across multiple creative suites and platforms.

AnExcellent Communicator

You are concise, thoughtful, a strong communicator and possess excellent people skills. You are cool under pressure and have the proven ability to train, motivate, inspire, and develop others across a diverse team. Your written and verbal communication skills are top notches, and have the proven ability to relay visual merchandising concepts in a succinct, digestible way.

A Passion For Fashion

In this role, an interest in fashion and understanding of current trends is a must. You should be industry aware, and have a strong grasp on the competitive landscape.

Fine Print: (we ask that you have the following to apply.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in creative visual merchandising.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office and Mac; working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite programs and Indesign is preferred.
  • Must be able to provide a portfolio of past Visual Merchandising work.

Salary:

85,000 - 95,000 Yearly
