Job Description:
Join Altera as a Virtualization and Systems Engineer! The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the management, implementation, and administration of enterprise-level infrastructure services including Active Directory (AD), DNS, virtualization platforms, Azure Cloud services, integration technologies, and database management. You will ensure systems are secure, reliable, highly available, and aligned with business objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
Active Directory (AD) & DNS Management:
- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Azure AD integrations, and Identity Management solutions.
- Manage DNS infrastructure, including internal/external zones, records management, and security.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and health of directory services.
Virtualization Platforms
- Install, configure, maintain, and optimize virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM).
- Monitor virtualized environments, troubleshoot performance and capacity issues, and perform regular upgrades or patches.
- Manage VM lifecycle, backup, and disaster recovery procedures.
Azure Cloud & Integration Services
- Deploy, manage, and monitor Azure services including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure AD, Azure networking, Azure Backup, and Azure Database Services.
- Integrate on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud solutions (hybrid cloud connectivity, Azure AD Connect, VPN, ExpressRoute).
- Ensure adherence to cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
Database Management
- Manage database systems (MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL DB), including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, performance tuning, and security.
- Support database migration activities and ensure data integrity and high availability.
- Collaborate with application teams for efficient database operations and integrations.
Monitoring, Security & Compliance
- Proactively monitor infrastructure health, performance, and security using appropriate tools.
- Implement security standards, conduct regular audits, and comply with IT governance and regulatory requirements (ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR, etc.).
- Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Active Directory, DNS, virtualization technologies, Azure cloud, and database administration.
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, Entra, Group Policies, Azure AD Connect.
- Strong skills in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in Azure services (VMs, Storage, Networking, Azure SQL, Azure Backup, Azure AD).
- Experience managing databases such as SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
