Remote ASL Interpreter Opportunity

This virtual position allows you to support student learning from your home office, providing the vital link between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their educational community. Your expertise will ensure students have full access to both academic content and social interactions.

Position Parameters

• 32.5-37.5 hours per week, based on school schedule
• Focus on middle and high school students in mainstream settings
• Daily schedule typically between 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Interpreting across varied subject areas
• Supporting students with diverse communication preferences
• Collaborating with educational teams remotely
  
  

Core Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for classroom instruction and discussions
• Facilitate student participation in class activities and group work
• Voice interpret student communications to teachers and peers
• Adapt interpreting style to match student language level
• Prepare for specialized academic content
• Support student independence while ensuring communication access
• Follow educational interpreting best practices
• Document services as required
• Participate in educational team meetings as appropriate
  
  

Qualification Requirements

• Minimum 3.5 EIPA score
• Master's degree
• Two years of educational interpreting experience
• Strong knowledge of academic vocabulary and concepts
• Proficiency with remote meeting technology
• Reliable computer with webcam and high-speed internet
• Professional home workspace conducive to interpreting
• Strong time management and self-direction skills

• 4.0+ EIPA score
• RID/NIC certification
• Written EIPA
• Experience with virtual interpreting environments
