VP of Business Development - DoD / IC / Satellite C2
Circa $225k base, $400k OTE
Washington, DC area – DMV area

Our client, a leading space operations business, is seeking a highly experienced VP of Business Development to join their high performing and fast-growing team.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in government solutions business development, particularly within the Department of Defense (DoD) and related agencies.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving business development efforts, building and maintaining relationships, and closing significant deals.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead and manage the sales strategy for government solutions, focusing on DoD agencies including the NRO and USSF.
- Develop and execute business development plans to win new contracts and expand the footprint within government agencies.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the entire capture process, from shaping to closing deals.
- Utilize a deep understanding of the NRO structure and supplier acquisition processes to navigate and secure opportunities.
- Leverage experience with C2 systems for satellites, or the management of other space assets to provide expert insights and solutions.
- Maintain an active TS/SCI clearance to engage in high-level discussions and negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to articulate the value proposition and solutions.
- Work on-site in the DC area, with potential flexibility based on business needs.
What You Will Need:
- Proven expertise as a VP or Director of Government Solutions, Business Development, Sales, or similar, in a similar space-tech company.
- Specific experience with DoD agencies, including the NRO and/or USSF.
- An understanding of the NRO structure and supplier acquisition processes.
- Experience with C2 systems for satellites, or wider space asset management
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience working with Seed or Series A companies to help them win business at government agencies.
- Proven track record of closing deals worth over $10 million.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Past experience in building and managing a solutions team.
- Existing network within the DoD, NRO, and/or USSF.
What’s on offer:
- Base Salary: $200,000-$225,000
- Total Compensation: $400,000 (including bonuses – as a guide)
