Job Title: Venue Manager

An exciting opportunity to be one of the first permanent employees at the National Pickleball League (The “Jar”) and help the business grow across the State of Victoria.

The job description is as follows:

• Overall responsibility for the day to day operations of the "Jar" (NPL venue name) 
• This includes ensuring operations at all hours are functional and effective, even when you are not on-site.
• Manage casual staff, which includes rostering, corporate functions, cleaning, maintenance and staff engagement. Mentor junior staff at all times and ensure the working environment is positive and fosters elite standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all members, NPL customers and corporate clients and ensure all staff follow suit 
• Provide weekly/monthly reports on all business items related to the Jar.
• Ensure court occupancy is maximised Month to Month. 
• Develop new and innovative ways to attract, retain and reactivate customers
• Responsible for all membership, court, program and merchandise sales at the venue
• Process casual bookings, equipment rental, merchandise sales and POS management while on shift.
• Ensure all OH&S policies and incidents are managed effectively across the venue
• Management and procurement of pickleball stock such as paddles, accessories, balls, merchandise.
• Ongoing maintenance of programs such as timings, runsheets and feedback of programs.
• Ensure the smooth operation of court usage is maintained at all times. This includes managing start and end times of all court bookings, as well as all events.
• Ensure all operational policies and procedures are managed, maintained and adhered to at all times.
• Establish efficient ways of working and ensure there is a focus on optimising and automating processes wherever possible, in an ongoing manner.
• Manage the setup, running and packdown of special events such as corporate events, marketing pop-ups, media events etc.
• Represent the NPL brand in a positive manner at all times.
• Responsible for ensuring all opening and closing procedures of the Jar are performed without error on a daily basis.
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facilities to a high standard
• Maintain a high level of pickleball knowledge (such as rules, equipment comparison etc) at all times.
• Liaise with key stakeholders of the business, both internal and external

• Confident to speak in front of larger groups
• Must be great with people, proactive in your attitude towards work, thrive off growing a team and enjoy having a good time
• Basic Microsoft office skills

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time

Pay: $70,000 to $90,000 per annum (+super)

Expected hours

• 38 hours per week
• Venue Operating hours
• 6am – 11pm (7 days per week)
• Shifts to fall within these hours as per business requirements
• The NPL is looking for someone with flexibility in hours, with the long term vision of fixed shifts once business is running efficiently.

• Initial 6 months will be based at the South Melbourne flagship venue, followed by a potential transfer to another NPL venue. Any move will be discussed and reviewed by the candidate and the team first.
