Utility Maintenance Worker – Water Production
Pay: $33.59 - $41.67 per hour, DOQ
Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Benefit Eligible, Union Position

We’re seeking a safety-focused, collaborative individual with a commitment to public service for our Utility Maintenance Worker – Water Production position. This position performs tasks to support the functions of the Utilities Division including the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s wells, raw water collection system, water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pump stations. This position is also responsible for monitoring water distribution, sanitary collection, and storm conveyance via SCADA for the residents and businesses of Eagan.

Essential Position Functions
- Inspect, operate, and maintain the City’s wells, Class A water treatment plants, reservoirs, and booster stations
- Perform routine process control analyses
- Enter, review, and maintain inspection and maintenance records
- Monitor water distribution, sanitary collection, and storm conveyance systems via SCADA
- Takes water samples at various points in the raw water collection, treatment, and distribution system for chemical and biological analyses
- Respond to emergency callbacks after scheduled work hours
- Enter, review, and maintain inspection and maintenance records
- Perform cleaning, preventative maintenance, and repair of Public Works facilities and equipment
- Adhere to and implement all safety rules, regulations, and practices
- Promote and maintain good relationships between co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
- Work with or for other Public Works Divisions as assigned, including snowplowing and other maintenance activities
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Class D or higher Minnesota Driver’s license, or equivalent from another state
- Valid Class A Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License (Interstate, Category 1 or 2) with air brake and tank endorsements within 180 days of hire – Training Provided!
- Valid Class D Water Operator Certificate within 18 months of hire – Training Provided!
- Valid Class SD Wastewater Operator Certificate within 18 months of hire – Training Provided!

Things that may help you be successful in this role
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Water Environmental Technologies or closely related field
- Valid Minnesota Class C or higher Water Operator license
- Valid Minnesota Class SC or higher Wastewater Operator license
- Valid Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tank endorsements
- Three (3) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm conveyance systems in either a Minnesota Class B or Class A water or wastewater utility system including infrastructure, appurtenances, and equipment
- Three (3) years of experience with SCADA, CMMS, and/or GIS in the operation of a Minnesota Class B or Class A water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, or storm conveyance systems
- Valid Minnesota Special Boilers license - Must be obtained within 1 year of hire
Working Environment, Physical Requirements, And Hours
- 50% indoor water treatment facility; 50% field
- Normal working hours are from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday. The employee shall be available for extended workdays and callbacks. Shift changes, standby duties, and on-call assignment will be determined by the Superintendent of Utilities.
- Employee will be required to do sustained physical work in any and all weather conditions
