Summary

Robert Half is partnering with a mission-driven client in search of a UI/UX Developer to lead front-end development and user experience design across the organization’s digital ecosystem—including its flagship website, ecommerce platform, mobile experience, and other digital initiatives.

This is a hybrid role. Candidates located in the Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland (DMV) area will be considered.


Responsibilities

UX Design & UI Development

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand goals, desired outcomes, and UX requirements.
  • Manage digital design project timelines and communications to ensure alignment across teams.
  • Partner with UX designers, content strategists, and fellow developers to create thoughtful solutions through whiteboarding, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Design user-focused digital experiences that balance stakeholder needs and user goals.
  • Leverage branding, visual tone, and mood to ensure cohesive and consistent digital experiences.
  • Support UX research, testing, and analytics; recommend these tools where appropriate to inform business decisions or validate design solutions.

Front-End Development

  • Develop and maintain front-end code across web properties.
  • Collaborate with the UX team to build reusable UI components aligned with long-term goals.
  • Create high-quality, interactive prototypes for use by backend developers and stakeholders.
  • Optimize web pages in collaboration with third-party development teams.
  • Ensure responsive, cross-browser, and cross-device compatibility.
  • Support ad hoc front-end requests for digital projects across departments.
  • Maintain the digital style guide to support content authors, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

Agile Collaboration

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Write detailed user stories capturing bugs and enhancements with business context and requirements.
  • Support the Product Owner in refining user stories for feasibility and clarity.
  • Identify blockers early and communicate risks to maintain sprint commitments.
  • Manage and share code via Git and JIRA; coordinate integration and testing efforts for smooth deployments.
  • Assist with QA and validate all code prior to launch.

Content & CMS Support

  • Support internal content teams by resolving CMS-related issues (e.g., Sitecore).
  • Guide internal clients on how best to present content within system and style constraints.
  • Set up complex layouts and components to meet evolving content needs.
  • Optimize on-site search functionality for user and business value.
  • Support content entry and editing, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Computer Science, Visual Design, or equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of UX principles and user-centered design.
  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
  • Experience with mobile-first CSS and responsive, cross-browser development.
  • Familiarity with .NET-based CMS platforms, especially Sitecore.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite; experience with wireframing/prototyping tools like Axure is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using GitHub and Agile project management tools (Azure DevOps or JIRA preferred).
  • Proven experience collaborating with developers and content teams to deliver user-centered solutions.
  • Strong portfolio with clear examples of personal contributions and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in a .NET CMS, especially Sitecore.
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles..
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mind
