Summary

Our client, an established employer is looking for a Senior UX Designer who is passionate about designing services and experiences that make a real difference. In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading human-centered design efforts across complex projects—often in environments transformation.


You’ll bring a strong background in qualitative field research, a thoughtful approach to change management and experience with enterprise environments.


THis is a 1 year contract to start - remote across Canada. There may be some travel to Edmonton


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the end-to-end design process from discovery to delivery across digital and non-digital touchpoints.
  • Plan and conduct in-depth user research including field studies, contextual interviews, and ethnographic observation to uncover user needs and pain points.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, policy teams, and operational staff to ensure design decisions are grounded in both user needs and organizational goals.
  • Act as a strategic partner in navigating organizational change, ensuring design solutions are implementable and sustainable.
  • Work alongside service designers, developers, content designers, and product managers to deliver cohesive and accessible services.
  • Support the growth of junior designers and contribute to building a strong design culture within the organization.
  • Help evolve and maintain design systems, accessibility standards, and user research best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of UX design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing human-centered design solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative user research methods, particularly field-based approaches.
  • Experience working within complex stakeholder environments or change initiatives.
  • Ability to synthesize insights into clear design principles and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate design decisions and research findings.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Axure).
  • A user-first mindset with a commitment to inclusive and accessible design.
  • Experience working with or within the public sector an asset
  • Knowledge of service design and systems thinking.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and cross-functional team environments.
