$25.00 Per Hour

General Duties: Tutors will support and assist the Certified Teacher in implementing the academic needs of the participants through instruction/tutoring and providing ways to increase the academic levels of the participants.

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with the students or assist in the classroom.
• Receive information from the support staff regarding the needs of the students.
• Work closely with all members of the staff in order to better serve the participants.
  
  

Specific Duties

Assist the teacher to address the academic needs of the student pertaining to the academic work.

Interact with students on a one-on-one or small group basis.

Assist with remedial and enrichment work.

Facilitate academic tutorials in a classroom setting.

Assist the students with homework as necessary.

Assist Certified Teacher with reports.

Provide daily classroom attendance records

• A tutor may not:
• Prepare lesson plans without proper supervision.
• Assume disciplinary action of any student.
  
  

Qualifications: BA or BS in Secondary Education preferred. NYS Teacher Certification helpful. High school graduate.

• Experience working with at risk high school youth.
• Experience in teaching or tutoring youth.
