Job Summary
The TS&D Engineer is responsible for all business-related technical support and application development including responding to technical inquiries, sales support, sample and test data generation for new applications and markets, report writing and presenting, and other technical duties for the Barrier & Surfaces Business globally. Early critical areas of focus will include developing a strong understanding of the technology and business and its self-motivated, fast paced and highly driven culture. This role will immediately take over Technical Service and Development, working closely with Sales and the CRM system. Plastics and materials experience where the plastic process provides added value (Blow-molding experience).
Essential Job Functions
Interface with existing customers and prospects with sales team as needed, including verbal and written communications, as well as presentations and collaboration
Provide superior customer service and technical recommendations, testing and prototyping, databasing results and generating written and verbal communications with internal and external stakeholders
Thoroughly understand technical offerings and translate into meaningful results for customers through experimentation, testing, research, collaboration and problem solving
Manage the Technical Service Request pipeline, efficiently and effectively
Benchmark competitive technologies
Generate professional reports and technical documentation of work accomplished
Utilize hands-on analytical tools to characterize plastics (FTIR, Instron, particle size analysis, microscopy, etc.)
Engage and work closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to support existing and new business
This role is the point of contact for the B&S sales division
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, inside and outside the company, with the proper level of professionalism, discretion and technical precision
Collaborate with company leadership in developing a strong and effective culture for the company, leveraging its existing innovative and entrepreneurial strengths.
Author technical reports to be shared externally, internally and for training
Adapt to the fast paced, demanding and self-motivated company culture
Establish industry credibility through reports and presentations at conferences etc.
Travel 10-20% expected

Education/Experience Requirements
B.S. degree or higher in Polymer Science & Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university
A minimum of 4-7 years of industrial experience in a technical service role
Requirements
History of collaborating closely with sales, marketing and operations in solving customer issues and expanding customer relationships
Strong working knowledge in a broad range of plastics processing techniques
Demonstrated track record in technical service and applications knowledge
Ability to solve technical problems through experimental design, laboratory work, chemical and mechanical testing
Familiarity with analytical test equipment, including FTIR, Mechanical Testing, ASTM Standards and method development
Proven success in publishing industry reports and presenting in public forums; excellent technical report writing skills
Extensive customer interaction skills
Highly data driven
Well-spoken and confident with excellent communication skills
Proven track record of problem solving; detail-oriented and organized
