The Body Shop Department is an integral part of this Company's success. The Truck Body Technician is responsible for the repairs to customer trucks in a timely and proficient manner. The Truck Body Technician will inform the Body Shop Foreman or Manager of additional needed repairs to ensure trucks are in great condition when they leave the shop.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Perform work on frames
Complete alignments
Repair and/or replace damaged and defective body parts of trucks
Occasionally replace mechanical truck parts
Prepare surfaces for painting by masking, sanding, buffing, etc.
Read and understand written wreck repair estimates
Fabricate items when needed
Be able to use problem-solving skills when issues arise during jobs
Communicate with the Body Shop Foreman and Manager on the repair process and keep them informed of any issues that arise or other repairs that may be needed
Personal Requirements
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
Valid CDL preferred and must meet the Company's insurability requirements
Be open to taking additional training classes per the request of management

Daily operation of a computer and other office machines
Will frequently be required to work in all kinds of weather outdoors
Lift up to 100 pounds daily
Daily noise level is usually moderate
Daily exposure to moving mechanical parts
Daily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb, balance, reach, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, and see
Will frequently be exposed to fumes and airborne particles
Must complete and maintain respiratory fit testing
Education/Training Or Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Diploma from a technical college preferred
2 years' experience in heavy-duty truck repair preferred
Frame and alignment training/certificate preferred
