Job Title: Superintendent
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced traveling assistant superintendent to support various projects. You will play a pivotal role in preparing and communicating project schedules, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring construction projects are completed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and communicate project schedules to plan upcoming activities and stay on target.
- Provide ongoing scheduling input to Project Management staff for all scheduling efforts.
- Coordinate daily activities for all subcontractors at any stage of construction.
- Complete all project construction in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
- Manage construction budgets set by the Project Manager, track construction costs, and submit all invoices to Accounting in a timely manner.
- Prepare daily log reports for site conditions, manpower, and activities in sufficient detail.
- Ensure all parties follow safety procedures and practices according to both OSHA and company requirements.
- Conduct pre-installation safety evaluations and action plans with contractors to ensure work activities are conducted in the safest manner possible.
- Maintain the construction site clean and organized.
- Ensure appropriate machinery and tools are available to assigned construction workers, and that hand and power tools are in proper working order.
- Schedule and participate in necessary inspections required by local and state regulations, and organize final inspections for completed work.
- Monitor daily construction procedures to ensure proper quality is achieved.
- Maintain consistent daily communication with project management staff to keep all parties informed of current project status and potential issues affecting progress.
- Respond to onsite incidents and emergencies per company procedures.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of three years’ construction supervisory experience in new construction and/or renovation/fit-out disciplines.
- Experience with project values of $10 million and up is desirable.
- Previous experience on higher education and/or commercial kitchens is required.
- Ability to travel and manage out-of-town work.
- Advanced knowledge of associated trades in all aspects of commercial construction.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, contracts, and specifications.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Experience in scheduling work, materials, manpower, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience in construction management, retail, and commercial construction.
- Familiarity with Procore software.
- Experience in interior construction, remodels, renovations, and commercial kitchen construction.
Work Environment
The work environment includes projects at college universities with a focus on commercial construction and renovation. The role requires travel to various project locations, with project durations generally ranging from 6 to 12 weeks. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $50.48/hr.
