Provide overall project leadership for construction engineering activities, ensuring successful project delivery
Direct and oversee field inspection, material testing, and project documentation efforts
Lead coordination with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to address construction challenges and maintain project quality
Interpret and enforce contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and resolve field conditions
Act as the primary liaison with the Illinois Tollway, managing communications, maintenance of traffic, and project progress reporting
Conduct and facilitate weekly progress meetings to monitor project performance and address emerging issues
Manage authorization to proceed, change orders, and extra work orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project milestones and objectives
Maintain comprehensive and accurate job site records, including daily reports, meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests
Ensure safety protocols are implemented and adhered to by all project participants
Mentor and support inspection teams to ensure effective field operations and documentation practices
Assist in designing and planning future projects during off-peak construction periods as required
Champion project quality, safety, and stakeholder satisfaction throughout all construction phases
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related Engineering degree
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction inspection and civil/structural engineering, with senior engineering responsibilities
Previous experience with Illinois Tollway projects is required
Proven leadership in managing complex construction projects and multidisciplinary teams
Strong knowledge of contract management, construction planning, and documentation
Familiarity with e-Builder, ICORS, and Microsoft Office Suite systems
Ability to drive to and work at construction sites
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
Willingness to complete required training in OSHA, CPR, and other mandated safety programs
Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
$100,000 - $165,000 a year
Salaries for all position are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, total years of experience in the industry, education, skills, and qualifications. Compensation may vary depending on the candidate's individual background and expertise.
