We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Transport and Operations Manager to join our team and oversee the day-to-day running of our transport and logistics operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the company’s transport operations, including scheduling and routing.
  • Oversee a team of drivers, operatives, and support staff to ensure efficient and safe delivery of services.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including vehicle maintenance and driver compliance with legal requirements such as Duty of care paperwork, tachographs and working hours.
  • Optimise routing and scheduling to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers, to ensure a smooth flow of operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage budgets, operational costs, and resources to meet financial objectives.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure targets are met.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures and policies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the sustainability and environmental impact of transport operations.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Transport or Operations Management role, preferably within the waste management or logistics sector.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience leading and motivating teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of transport legislation and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with routing, transport management systems (TMS), and fleet tracking.
  • Ability to manage budgets and operational costs effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management
  • Health and Safety qualifications such as IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) are highly advantageous
